Burbank, CA (February 25, 2003) — The partially scripted/partially improvised half-hour comedy series ON THE SPOT starring legendary comedian Tim Conway debuts on The WB Television Network on Thursday, March 20, 9:30-10:00 p.m. ET. The series is created and executive produced by Emmy Award-winning writer Rob Cohen (“The Ben Stiller Show,” “The Simpsons”).
ON THE SPOT may look like a sit-com and sound like a sit-com, but it’s really a high-wire comedy act without a net. Each fast-paced episode has a storyline, but instead of the usual scripted jokes, rehearsed performances and laugh tracks, ON THE SPOT is largely improvised. The clever ensemble cast is kept on its toes by audience suggestions that can turn each week’s plot upside-down in a heartbeat.
The series also stars comedians Jeff B. Davis, Arden Myrin, Jordan Black, Erinn Carter, Mindy Sterling, Michael Hitchcock, Dweezil Zappa, Lance Barber and Lindsey Stoddart. ON THE SPOT is produced by Warner Bros. Television.
Spin-kicking its way on to the screen, BLACK SASH makes its debut on Sunday, March 30, 9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. From the writers and executive producers of “The Karate Kid” and “Martial Law” and the executive producers of “Smallville,” BLACK SASH features a multigenerational cast, dazzling martial arts and stories of hope and redemption.

As an undercover narcotics cop, Tom Chang (Russell Wong, “Romeo Must Die”) paid a high price for staying true to his values. Framed and wrongly incarcerated in Hong Kong for allegedly smuggling heroine, he lost everything. Now, after five years in a Hong Kong prison, Tom has come home to San Francisco, intent on restoring his life and a relationship with his estranged daughter. Once back in San Francisco, Tom’s mentor, Master Li (Mako, “Pearl Harbor”), gives Tom his martial arts school and Tom finds a new family in the young men and women he trains. Lost and searching for answers, they will find hope in a man with the wisdom and insight they need.
Russell Wong made his theatrical debut in the United States in the feature film adaptation of James Clavell’s “Taipan.” He went on to star in “New Jack City,” “Romeo Must Die” and “The Joy Luck Club.” Wong recently wrapped production on the feature film “Blackout” with Ashley Judd and Samuel L. Jackson, scheduled for release in Fall 2003.
